Grief, Loss, and Life Transitions Guide
Plain-language guides on grief after a death or other loss, anticipatory grief, hard dates, and when support may help, from a Michigan psychologist.
Grief follows many kinds of loss: the death of someone you love, a diagnosis that changes the future, the end of a marriage, a move, a job, or a role that shaped who you were. These guides explain what grief can look like, why it rarely follows a schedule, and what different kinds of support can and cannot offer.
Nothing here is a test or a diagnosis, and none of it is a rule about how you should feel. If you would like to talk with someone, the grief counseling page explains how Dr. Lehmann works with adults in Franklin and by telehealth across Michigan. When a loss has settled into a low mood that will not lift, the depression therapy page may also be useful.
If you are in crisis, do not wait to read further: call or text 988, or call 911 if you are in immediate danger.
